    Water hyacinth and Canna were the best species to remove phosphorus , with removal rate of 98 . 08 % and 97 . 49 % respectively and they were significant differences with other treatments .

    The results showed that the removal rates of nitrogen by planting water hyacinth , Canna , Cyperus and Vetiver were 92 . 53 % , 91 . 45 % , 86 . 99 % and 82 . 05 % respectively .
