In this paper a mathematical model is proposed for calculating the heat transfer coefficient on the basis of avaiable cooling rate curves and the time of cooling process is worked out .

In this paper , the theoretical foundations and technological results of quenching of carbon tool steel in supersaturated nitrate solution are compared with those of interrupted quenching ( salt water-oil ), and the possible replacement between the two processes is studied .
